Good news, I found this repo that's newer, 3 months since last commit. If everything goes well this could be implemented into this project.

Since this is something you want, if I can get this working, is there a specific file format you would like the audio in?

I have not, though it was only attempted for around a week. If you have any suggestions or ideas I'm open to investigating this further.
