Description
Fladder on Android TV tries to directly play AVI files, but this only results in the player to just showing a black screen, no audio and saying the video has a 0:00 runtime. This does also happen when the video quality is set to ‘Auto’.
The file only plays when I force transcoding by either holding the play button or changing the video quality to a fixed mbps value.
I’ve tried AVI files with Xvid and WMV codecs. Got the same result on both.
Ideally the files could be played directly on the device. If that’s not possible for whatever reason, then containers and/or codecs that are unsupported by the build-in player should be automatically transcoded.
Reproduction steps
1. Go to Settings and change video quality to either ‘Direct’ or ‘Auto’
2. Try to play any video in an AVI container
