Why does Fladder need my location data?

Running FLADDER on a Windows 11 PC, why does it need my location data? Also why is there no way to disable accessing that information in the app?

Not sure I'm not seeing any location permission requests. There is also nothing using locations on any of the platforms.

Windows 11 shows the Windows version of "FLADDER" as accessing the Windows 11 Location Services.

I've done some digging into this.. and discovered that you cannot disable Location Services on a per-application basis anymore in Windows 11, now it's entirely "All or Nothing" security for it. This is definitely a Microsoft failure, and it sucks.

But I still was not sure why Fladder would be accessing my Location Services, as reported by Windows 11?

There should be no location access needed. And to be fair I'm also not seeing any requests in my Windows 11 installation for location requests from Fladder.

Not sure maybe my Windows installation is not quite up-to-date anymore because I can see the individual permission toggles for other applications.

Under "Privacy & Security > Location", there is a setting field labelled "Let apps access your location". This is the 'over all' toggle.
On mine, I have individual toggles for "Camera", "Weather", and "Start Experiences App". Just below those is "Let desktop apps access your location"... which is the catch-all everything else that's not a Microsoft specific widget like the "Camera" and "Weather" apps.

Also, no I never got a popup from Fladder asking for Location Permissions either, but considering there are no individual toggles anymore in the newer Win11 Updates.... I don't think it ASKS. Microsoft expects you to just turn off the Top Level Access to it.

Just installed the installable and re-downloaded the portable versions.
But neither request location permissions and neither are included in the list on my install.

Does it actively use those permissions as well? As in does the last accessed date change?

It does indeed update the "Last accessed" timestamp, yes. Now shows as 11:15pm last night while I was binge-watching an old TV series favorite of mine.

I should note, I don't actually think Fladder is doing anything with that information... but it is definitely accessing that service at the very least.
