Tutorial outline

1. Datasets:

• climate_grid
• ERA5 (limited vars)
• model dummies (short period). -> @kobebryant432 asks Kwinten for one or two runs + which variables?

2. Example with ALARO and COSMO (mixed). -> for later.

3. Start with presentation and have ready made notebooks.

• Prerequisites notebook (including links to xarray documentation and tutorials: https://github.com/jorisvandenbossche/DS-python-geospatial/blob/main/notebooks/11-xarray-intro.ipynb)
• Starting notebook: complete workflow, simple: start with three blocks (loading data, processing + analyses)
• Detailed notebooks on the three steps. (limited)
• 1. Input manager (input convertor, input manager, lookup tables)
• 2. Preprocessing (domain select, remapping!!, time selection, point selection)
• 3. Diagnostic analysis (diagnostic objects, diagnostic functions: not focusing on differences, just show examples)
• One notebook per type: bias maps, time series, skill scores + UHI (datatree and experiment lists)?

nice to have's: scatteplots; or different variables. Taylordiagrams
GCM spread, RCM spread, CPM spread.

= 8 notebooks in total.

examples >< tutorials. Examples are more complete and show full analysis, while tutorials are pointed to teach new users the basics.

Have basic suite of diagnostics out of the box
Efficient preprocessing (selecting, regridding, ...)
BUT xarray skills remain essential!
