IIS GeoIP2block Module

This is a modified version of the geoblock module originaly created by Triple IT for IIS 7/8.x. It can be added to any application pool using integrated pipeline mode running .Net 4 (now also on IIS 10). It uses the IPv4 address to determine the geographic location of the request by using Maxminds GeoIP2 database and takes action accordingly.

New features

  • Upgraded to .Net 4.8
  • Supports new GeoIP2 database format (free GeoLite2-Country.mmdb or commercial GeoIP2-Country.mmdb)
  • Extra deny actions:
    • Unauthorized (401)
    • Forbidden (403)
    • Not Found (404)
    • Gone (410)
    • Abort

Requirements

  • IIS 7 or higher
  • Net 4 Application pool running integrated pipeline mode
  • Net 4.x Extensibility package

build instructions

  • Minimal requirements Visual Studio Community 2017
  • Add refrences to Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll and Microsoft.Web.Management.dll located in C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\

If above files are not in C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv
For IIS 8 and up, you could run this command to enable the IIS Management tools:

Dism /online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:IIS-WebServerManagementTools /All

Or you could add the "IIS Management Console" through installing Windows Features -> Internet Information Services ->IIS Management Console.
